Prof. Lei Zuo hosted the NSF Educational Workshop: Developing Future Workforce for Ocean Energy Technologies and the Blue Economy at the University of Michigan. The workshop convened over 110 experts from around the world—representing academia, industry, and government—to discuss current challenges and explore future directions for workforce development in this rapidly evolving field.

Prof. Lei Zuo invited Prof. John Ringwood of Maynooth University, Ireland, to present a seminar at the University of Michigan. An IEEE Fellow and a leading pioneer in marine energy control, Prof. Ringwood shared insights from his groundbreaking research in the field.
Prof. Lei Zuo was named the Herbert C. Sadler Collegiate Professor of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering during a special ceremony. Dr. Andrea Copping, senior researcher and advisor at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, presented a seminar titled “Moving Forward with Marine Renewable Energy: …But What About the Environment?” She also engaged with students in a discussion about career development and opportunities in the field.

Mohamed Shabara from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Jeff Grasberger from Sandia National Laboratories visited Stevens Institute of Technology to deliver guest lectures and provide hands-on training on WECSim for Dr. Jia Mi’s course, OE810: Marine Energy and the Blue Economy.
